Dorothy Moore, BA, CVT Membership Committee Dorothy has been working in the veterinary field since 2011. She graduated from NCCC in 2013 with an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. She started her career working in an emergency hospital before working in a general practice for 3 years. Dorothy joined Central Hospital in 2016 as an ER and ICU Technician. Since then, she has also worked in Central’s cardiology and emergency surgery departments. She is a member of our training team and enjoys teaching incoming technicians and assistants. In 2019, Dorothy became the Technician Assistant Supervisor. In 2023, she graduated from SUNY Canton with her bachelor's in Veterinary Business Administration. She currently resides in Connecticut with her fiancé, 4 sons, and hound mix Bo.
Angela Elia, CVT, LVT, VTS (ECC) Membership Committee Angela Elia earned her BS in Animal Behavior Psychology in 2005 from Northland College. Her research and studies included tracking, monitoring and humane management of wolf, coyote, black bear, eagle and osprey populations in the Midwest. In 2006, she moved to NYC where she began doing canine and feline behavioral modification and rehabilitation work for the NYC public shelter system. While working in the shelter system, she was introduced to veterinary medicine and knew this was her next career step! In 2015, she graduated from LaGuardia Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Shortly after, she began to work in emergency and critical care departments across the NYC metro area. She was drawn to emergency and critical care for the opportunity it provides to help pets and owners in their greatest time of need. In 2021, Angela earned her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care. With this new certification, she has begun to devote her time to creating education and mentorship programs for the advancement of fellow technicians around the world. Angela enjoys speaking on topics such as specialized nursing care considerations, emergency medicine and increasing proper nurse utilization. Her biggest passion outside of the clinic is international veterinary medicine and bringing veterinary support to underserved communities of developing nations. To date, she has participated in veterinary based humanitarian missions in nearly 30 different countries, helping to bring priceless medical treatment and care to thousands of owned and free-roaming animals.
Erin Jackson, M.Ed, CVT Membership Committee I have worked within Veterinary Medicine for the past 25 years starting as a Veterinary Assistant, working my way up as a Veterinary Technician as well as part of a management team. I found my real passion within education and teaching the future of the Veterinary medicine. I have a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Connecticut. I obtained my CVT credentials in 2005 passing the VTNE. I then went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Adult Education to further my teaching within the Community College systems. I work within two states in two separate Veterinary Technician programs.. I have been faculty at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke Massachusetts. I teach first and second year students along with Veterinary Assistants. I am the program coordinator for the NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant Program at the College. Holyoke Community College also obtained AAHA accreditation this year, setting a standard of Veterinary care for our program and practice. I also adjunct within the Veterinary Technology Program at Middlesex Community College in Middletown Connecticut. I enjoy this career so much, that I have added an Associate Faculty position with Post University within their Equine Studies Program. My down time is spent riding my horse that I share with my daughter. My house is also filled with a multitude of dogs and cats along with guinea pigs and some chickens. |
